Your stepping stone to success

Foundation college student

Central Sussex College's Foundation programmes offer a variety of options designed for progression towards higher level courses, apprenticeships or employability.

Foundation learning courses offer opportunities to learners who need more individual or specialised support in order to achieve their goals, and allow learners to follow a personalised learning package taking into account their own goals and their College tutors’ assessment of their skills profile.

Our Schools Links programmes are designed for those aged 14-16 who are struggling to achieve and succeed at school, and for whom the College environment would be more suitable.

Our Essential Skills programme is designed to enable learners to gain the skills employers are looking for so they can aim for a great job or alternatively start a vocational course.

The Essential ESOL courses can support a wide range of needs for anyone who does not have English as their first language and also offers the opportunity to develop numeracy and IT skills.

Jumpstart is a six week full time course for 16-18 year olds who would benefit from a short programme to reintroduce them to education and to get them ready for finding employment.

Our Engage Programme is designed for 16-19 year old learners who are entering college for the first time or re-engaging with a college programme

In addition to continuing to develop skills in English, maths and ICT, foundation learning students also work towards a Personal and Social Development Award and have the opportunity to start developing skills in a chosen vocational area.

Taster courses are available which allow learners to 'taste' a number of different vocational options before starting on a longer course.

Many of our courses start in September, November or January. For further details call 01293 442201/203/205/206 or email Admissions.
