Here at Central Sussex College we want you to enjoy your time as a student, because all work and no play can lead to a pretty dull time. The Students’ Union arranges regular trips, parties and events throughout the academic year that all students are encouraged to enjoy, plus there’s sports and fundraising events to get involved with.

At our Haywards Heath campus, you’ll find a very active student body, where you’ll have the opportunity to join student bands, sports teams and drama productions to name but a few. There’s also regular DJ nights and end-of-term balls to attend, so you’re guaranteed friendship and fun alongside your studies.

College Sports

Sports and fitness provision for is very important at Central Sussex College, and you can benefit from sports including football, badminton, basketball and swimming (available at a discounted rate at Crawley Leisure Centre on production of a valid student ID card, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).

Central Sussex College FC plays in a local league and the team was recently promoted and reached the league final. They’re always on the lookout for new talent. And at our Haywards Heath campus the hockey team recently brought home the West Sussex Colleges hockey trophy after winning the tournament!

Student discounts

A NUS card, available from the Students' Union, will enable you to enjoy the many discounts offered to students across Sussex and the rest of the UK. With this card you can get money off in a variety of places including high street stores, music shops, cinemas and driving schools.

A Student Leisure Plus Card, available from Crawley Leisure Centre, will give you the opportunity to use many local leisure services at a discounted rate. The Students' Union can also provide information on ISIC cards and proof of age cards.

Fundraising

RAG Week is a popular annual event at Central Sussex College and is supported by staff and students alike. It's a great way to do something for a worthwhile cause while having fun, and in recent years there have been five-a-side charity football matches, fancy dress collections, cake sales, sponges and stocks and many more crazy activities! We have raised money for many different charities in the past including Children in Need and Comic Relief, and local charities such as St Catherine's Hospice and Mid Sussex Body Positive.

Nightlife

Crawley, Haywards Heath and East Grinstead all have plenty of entertainment venues and a good variety of places to eat, drink and socialise. Crawley has enjoyed substantial development in recent times in its nightlife and bar venues and now boasts a number of central nightclubs, pubs and bars.

The Leisure Park is also a popular attraction, and as it offers a 15-screen cinema, bowling alley, health club, restaurants and a nightclub, there really is something for everyone. Likewise, Haywards Heath and East Grinstead have a range of good quality dining venues plus bars, cinemas and bowling alleys, so you’ll never be short of something to do in the evening.
