Suitable For: This course is suitable for those who have a keen interest in the sports industry and who wish to undertake a practical, work-related course. The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport is designed to prepare you for employment in organisations such as sports and leisure centres, or to provide a good grounding to study more advanced courses such as the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport.

Entry Requirements:
You need to have a good standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to three GCSEs at grade D or a pass at a related Level 1 qualification.
Course Content:
The course is made up of eight units which add up to 60 credits. Units studied are:
• Fitness Testing and Training
• Practical Sport
• Anatomy and Physiology for Sport
• Planning and Running a Sports Event
• Development of Personal Fitness
• Nutrition for Sports Performance
• Exercise and Fitness Instruction
• Effects of Exercise on the Body Systems
Most practical lessons will be based at K2 Leisure Centre. Students will be expected to make their own way to and from this facility and in time for their lessons.

ASSESSMENT
The course is continually assessed with internally set assignments which are graded either pass, merit or distinction.
There will be a number of trips organised throughout the programme and it is expected that you will meet these costs, payable at enrolment.
Outcome of Course and Progression:
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport is designed to prepare you for employment in organisations such as Sports Centres and Leisure Centres or to provide a good grounding to go onto study more advanced courses such as the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport with Fitness Instructing or the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/Extended Diploma in Sport.
Cost:
16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. However they are required to pay for other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits.
Students aged over 19 on the 31st August in the year in which they start their studies, have to pay tuition fees. In addition they are expected to pay awarding body registration and exam fees, other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits.
Some students may be eligible for a fee concession, although in most cases some element of the fees will have to be paid.
