Suitable For: Central Sussex College offers a wide range of Skills for Life courses for anyone who wants to acquire or improve their speaking and listening, reading, writing and number skills.
There are many reasons to join an English class. You might want to improve your skills to increase your confidence, get a better job, prepare for another course or even to help your children with their homework.

You will need to have an interview so that we can assess you and help you decide which course is best for you.

Course Content:

This course is for anyone who wants to develop their:

* Reading skills
* Writing skills
* Spelling skills
* Listening skills
* Speaking skills

The course is very practical and will help you in all aspects of work and life, such as helping children with homework or improving job prospects. Work is in small groups with sympathetic and friendly tutors.

Outcome of Course and Progression:

Possible progression to other courses. The Functional Skills awards are nationally recognised qualifications.
You can progress from beginner to level 2. Level 2 is broadly equivalent to GCSE grade C.

Cost:

This course is usually free for British and EU students who have been resident in the EU for at least 3 years.
