Suitable For: Those who have little or no signing skills and wish to be able to communicate using British Sign Language.

Entry Requirements:
No formal entry requirements but a commitment to the course is expected.
Please note that the course tutor is fully qualified by CACDP to teach British Sign Language.
Course Content:
By the end of the course students should be able to understand and express themselves in BSL sufficiently well to:
1. Address, greet and take leave appropriately.
2. Identify relevant data and facts from simple and commonly used expressions to meet day to day requirements.
3. Ask for and provide information appropriate to the context and in a way that can be clearly understood by a Deaf sign language user.
4. Identify and take appropriate action from simple instructions.
5. Seek clarification and confirmation when needed appropriately.
Progression:
Working towards Level 2 BSL; Introduction to Level 2; Signature Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language.
Outcome of Course and Progression:
To enable students to communicate with Deaf people in BSL about day to day topics and activities.
