• Year 2 - BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism

You will also have the opportunity to study Maths and English to Level 2 (Functional Skills or GCSE) if you have not already achieved a grade C.

Entry Requirements:

You must be at least 16 years old and possess at least four GCSEs at grade C including English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.
The Travel and Tourism industry requires people who can show initiative, be reliable and responsible, and are appropriately qualified.

Progression to year two is dependent on achievement of all units in year one and satisfactory attendance and effort.

• Tour Operations
• Special Interest Tourism
• Roles and Responsibilities of Holiday Representatives
• Entertainment for Holidaymakers
• Work Experience in the Travel and Tourism Industry
• Residential Study Visit
• Airfares & Ticketing (IATA Level 1)
• The Appeal and Importance of UK Attractions
• Current Issues in Travel and Tourism

All units whether compulsory or specialist, will require commitment and motivation and shall involving a great deal of study often the classroom.

Assessment:
The course is continually assessed. Assessments are set for each unit either internally or externally and are awarded a pass, merit or distinction grade.

There will be a number of trips organised throughout the programme and it is expected that you will meet these additional costs, payable at enrolment.

All students will be required to wear a uniform for trips and classroom activities. Uniform regulations must be strictly adhered to. Price TBA

Outcome of Course and Progression:

A Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism and Functional Skills Certificate at appropriate level. These, along with additional travel qualifications, will place students in strong positions to apply for employment. The college has an extremely high success rate with students gaining employment in areas such as:

• Airports
• Airlines

Students will achieve UCAS points suitable for Higher Education entry.

16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. However they are required to pay for other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits.
Students aged over 19 on the 31st August in the year in which they start their studies, have to pay tuition fees. In addition they are expected to pay awarding body registration and exam fees, other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits.
Some students may be eligible for a fee concession, although in most cases some element of the fees will have to be paid.
