Year 1 - National Subsidiary Diploma
Year 2 - National Extended Diploma 180 credits

Candidates who are successful in achieving the Subsidiary Diploma can move on to Year 2 and complete the full Extended Diploma.

Entry Requirements:

You will need to have either GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics, Science, English and one other subject; or a BTEC or City and Guilds Level 2 in Engineering.
Mature students employed in allied industries may enter the first year.

Outcome of Course and Progression:

Candidates will study 9 units per year. Those who achieve the Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent to 1 A-level) in year one will be able to progress to the second year to study the Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-levels). Students who successfully complete the Extended Diploma can progress to Higher Education at the college or at university, depending on the grades achieved.

Cost:

16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. However they are required to pay for other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits.
Students aged over 19 on the 31st August in the year in which they start their studies, have to pay tuition fees. In addition they are expected to pay awarding body registration and exam fees, other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits.
Some students may be eligible for a fee concession, although in most cases some element of the fees will have to be paid.
Please note: Other costs (books, uniforms, trips, materials, etc.) will be £150.00

Course Times/Timetable:

        The course will consist of approximately 16 hours of direct tuition in a mix of workshop and classroom environments. To successfully complete the course, students will need to put in a significant amount of self-study in the order of 10 – 16 hours per week.
