Entry By: Interview and Audition
Entry Requirements:
5 A-C grades at GCSE. In order to study this course you will need to pass an audition as well as achieve the GCSE grades required.
It is designed for students with some dance experience who wish to study the theory and practice of dance in a vocational environment. You must be willing to work with enthusiasm and commitment to the highest of standards.
Course Content:
The Subsidiary Diploma in Dance is a practical, work related course. It involves completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course involves developing a range of specialist dance skills and knowledge.
The course is made up of two core units which are compulsory plus 4 specialist units

Performing to an Audience
Dance Performance
Specialist Units:
Choreographic Principles
Choreographing Dances
Developing Contemporary Dance
Applying Contemporary Dance
Healthy Performer
How will I be assessed?
Assessment throughout the course takes place through practical and written assignments and live performances. The course is internally assessed then the marks are verified both internally and externally by Edexcel
Other Details:
This course can be a way of fulfilling entry requirements into Higher Education to study either Dance or any other subject.
Outcome of Course and Progression:
BTEC Subsidiary Diploma equivalent to 1 A Level.
Cost:
As part of the course, there are theatre trips and workshops that you are expected to attend.
These cost between £5 and £35 and take place twice a term.
