Suitable For: This course is suitable for those not employed in the construction industry who wish to gain a recognised qualification and seek employment in the industry. Successful completion allows progression to NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations.

Entry By: Interview

Entry Requirements:

You should have completed secondary education with ideally 2 GCSE grade Ds, preferably in English and Maths. You should be self motivated with a keen interest in the industry.

Course Content:

The course consists of 14 units. 7 units are knowledge based with 7 units based on practical assignments. The units cover: Safe working practices, Information, quantities and communicating with others, Building methods and construction technology, Basic Blocklaying, Basic Bricklaying, Cavity walling and contributing to setting out basic
masonry structures.

• Ongoing practical Assessment throughout the course
• Online Knowledge Testing
• Practical end phase test

Progression Opportunities:
After completion of the Level 1 Diploma there is an opportunity to progress onto a Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork and Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork.

Cost:

For the future academic year home students Under 19 on 31 August will not have to pay any tuition, awarding body, exam or administration fees. Students may make a voluntary contribution towards these costs if they wish. Students who are over 19 on the 31st August will have to pay tuition, awarding body, exam or administration fees.
