Qualification: The Young Apprenticeship Programme is made up of 2 elements that must be achieved for the student to be awarded the Young Apprenticeship Certificate. The Level 2 First Diploma in Construction and the Young Apprenticeship Certificate. However, these 2 elements are not in themselves dependent upon each other.

Suitable For: Learners expecting C grade GCSEs and wishing to gain employment within the construction industry either in a trade or supervisory role.
Entry By: Interview
Entry Requirements:
Successful interview with college.
Course Content:
• Introduction to Construction – studying the social and environmental impact of the construction industry.
• Health Safety and Welfare – studying health and safety at work
• Construction Science and Maths – Applying maths and science to construction processes.
• Exploring Wood Occupations – and introduction to carpentry.
• Exploring Decorative Occupations – an introduction to painting and decorating.
• Exploring Trowel Occupations – an introduction to brickwork. 50 days work placement over 2 years at a local company/companies, as well as enrichment activities such as trips into business/careers shows/events and e-mentoring.
Other Details:
Assessments is ongoing in both theory and practical
Outcome of Course and Progression:
Craft trades level 2 or site supervision level 3 (with suitable GCSEs)
Cost:
Compulsory use of safety boots, £25.00 (approx)
