Entry Requirements:
You will need to have successfully completed a Level 2 Certificate in a technical subject, or equivalent. Entry is also subject to an interview.
Course Content:
The course is divided into core units and pathways:
Core Units:
Unit 1.Aviation mathematics & science
Unit 2.Electrical & Avionics Fundamentals
Unit 3.Aviation Legislation
Unit 5.Basic Aerodynamics
Unit 6.Human factors in aeronautical engineering
Pathway Units:
Unit 7.Aircraft materials and hardware
Unit 8.Aircraft structure and maintenance
Unit 9.Aircraft Mechanical systems
Unit 10.Gas turbine engines and propellers
On successful completion of this Level 3 course the candidate will be able to progress to HNC/D and University as required, or to industry.
Assessment:
Units 1,2,5 & 6 will be assessed by multiple choice questions to be delivered on-line through the City & Guilds GOLA (Global On-Line Assessment) system.
Pathway Units will be assessed by centre devised practical tasks and knowledge questions. (60% Pass)
Other units will be assessed by centre set assessments.

City & Guilds 2661 Level 3 Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance (mechanical pathway)
