26/01/2010

Brickwork is just one of the Apprenticeships on offer at Central Sussex College
With over 700 apprentices currently enrolled at the College, Apprenticeship Week 2010, which runs 1-5 February, is the ideal occasion to celebrate the opportunities provided by work-based training programmes, and the achievements of those who study for them.
On Thursday 4 February, representatives from the College will be attending a national event at Portsmouth's historic Dockyard, to celebrate apprentices through the ages. Channel 4 Time Team's Tony Robinson will be speaking at the event, and local bespoke carpentry and joinery company Wood & Wisdom, will also be attending, along with several of their current apprentices who train at the Central Sussex College.
Locally, staff and apprentices from the College will be attending an event at The Martlets, Burgess Hill, on Tuesday 2 February, to present the Apprenticeship and training options on offer to businesses in the area. A representative from Burgess Hill-based engineering company, HPC, who have worked with a number of apprentices over the last few years, will also attend the event, along with two current apprentices, who will be on-hand to discuss their experiences.
The College currently offers Apprenticeships in a huge range of vocational areas, ranging from Brickwork to Business Administration, in conjunction with a number of high profile employers in the South East, which include Thales, Elekta, Ford and Crawley Borough Council.
