Training has made staff more aware of the high standard of expectation, how best to improve their practice and also support their colleagues. This has wetted their appetite to improve themselves and move on to study further and gain a nursing qualification.
The training has certainly increased staff morale and therefore effectiveness and productivity. Among those staff studying the relevant apprenticeships, there has been an increased awareness of customer needs, IT and leadership/management skills.

Following my first appraisal, my boss suggested I would benefit from a book-keeping course. I registered with Central Sussex College and have really enjoyed the experience of being a mature student…Around the same time my boss told me about an opportunity for me to be funded by Train to Gain to do an NVQ in Administration. I have been doing this and have so far achieved a City & Guilds level 2 in English. The whole experience has been positive and my employer has seen an improvement not only in my skills, but also in my self confidence.
Since we started the Train to Gain and apprenticeship qualifications with Central Sussex College, several of my staff have successfully completed courses including Management and Customer Services. I feel this has been of real benefit to the individual and to the business, with a greater understanding of roles and responsibilities. The support and guidance from the College has been excellent and I fully recommend any company to take advantage of these qualifications and the service that Central Sussex College provides.
I met Central Sussex College at a networking event; I explained that we were looking to recruit an apprentice, and that we wanted someone that would grow with the company. I was introduced to some handpicked school leavers and students, and the College held our hand all the way.
