Pathway 1 - Electrical Installation
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in installing electro technical systems and equipment (building, structures & environment)
Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT at level 2.

Pathway 2 - Electrical Maintenance
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in electro technical services (electrical maintenance)
Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT at level 2.

Duration: Advanced Apprenticeships – up to 4 Years

Venue: Crawley Campus, College Road, Crawley West Sussex, RH10 1NR

Start Date: September and other dates on application.

Suitable For: Employed learners wishing to follow a career in Electrical Installation or as a maintenance electrician.

Entry By: Interview

Entry Requirements:

A good standard of literacy and numeracy and an aptitude for Electrical Installation.

Course Content:

The Advanced Apprenticeship combines the underpinning knowledge and the competence based qualification, which supports gaining work based evidence. .

Pathway 1 - Electrical Installation
Knowledge units:
- Understanding Health & Safety legislation, practices and procedures - installing and maintaining electro technical systems and equipment
- Understanding environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
- Understanding the practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment - electrical installation
- Understanding the practices and procedures in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understanding the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electro technical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
- Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electro technical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electro technical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understanding the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.

Competence units:
- Applying Health & Safety legislation and working practices - installing and maintaining systems and equipment
- Applying environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
- Overseeing and organising the work environment - electrical installation
- Planning, preparing and installing wiring systems and associated equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords in electrical systems
- Inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electro technical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Electro technical occupational competence

Pathway 2 - Electrical Maintenance

- Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electro technical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment

Other Details:

An Apprentice must be in relevant employment which provides the range of work that enables the requirements of the qualification to be met.

Outcome of Course and Progression:

Successful learners will be awarded an Advanced Apprenticeship in Electro technical Services.

Cost:

Fully funded for 16-18 year olds, employer contribution for 19+ employees.
