Qualification:
An appropriate Level 2 NVQ Diploma (Performing Engineering Operations, Mechanical Manufacturing, Engineering Maintenance & Installation, Fabrication and Welding, Materials Processing and Finishing, Engineering Technical Support, Aeronautical Engineering).
An appropriate Knowledge certificate at Level 2 (BTEC or City & Guilds).
Functional Skills in Mathematics, English and ICT at Level 1.
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS).
Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR).
Duration: 24 months

Start Date: The Knowledge certificate and Functional Skills elements of the framework commence in September, though it is possible for the remaining components of the programme to be started throughout the year.
Suitable For: Individuals employed in a suitable engineering environment who are required to develop their skills and those seeking progression onto higher level study.

Entry Requirements:
All candidates must be employed within an engineering environment. Candidates will be interviewed, undertake a Functional Skills assessment and "Select-A-Head" assessment which is a measure of a candidates current level of understanding within Engineering.
Prior to Apprentices starting the programme, an initial assessment takes place with the Employer to discuss business needs and to subsequently identify the most appropriate pathway/units within the Apprenticeship framework.
Course Content:
There are a variety of career opportunities available to staff employed in the Engineering sector across a range of disciplines including Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, Production, Welding and Fabrication, Maintenance and Technical Engineering.
To succeed in their chosen field individuals require both practical and technical skills. Apprenticeship programmes aim to provide these skills via a framework of qualifications, which candidates are required to work towards through a combination of college and work-based activities.
Outcome of Course and Progression:
On successful completion of the course you will receive an overall Intermediate Apprenticeship certificate as well as your competence, knowledge and Functional Skills certificates.
Apprentices can progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, if employed in a suitable role.
Cost:
The course is fully funded for those aged 16-18, however there maybe an employer contribution for those aged 19+.
