Apprenticeship - 2 Years
Further 2 years for Advanced Apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements:
Learners must have an aptitude for Plumbing. Entry onto an Advanced Apprenticeship is via progression from a completed Apprenticeship at Level 2.
Course Content:
Apprenticeship
The following knowledge units will be covered:-
- Understand how to communicate with others in building services engineering
- Understand how to apply environmental protection measures in building services engineering
- Understand how to apply scientific principles
The following competence units will be covered:
- Apply safe working practices
- Install & maintain domestic plumbing & heating systems
- Understand and carry out site preparation & pipe work fabrication techniques
- Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation & maintenance
- Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation & maintenance
- Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation & maintenance techniques
- Understand and apply domestic rainwater system installation & maintenance techniques
- Understand and apply domestic above ground drainage system installation & maintenance techniques
- Understand and carry out safe working practices
Advanced Apprenticeships
There are three pathways:-
- oil-fired, solid fuel or environmental options
- gas-fired warm air appliances
- gas-fired water and central heating appliances
Other Details:
An Apprentice must be employed and have access to a range of work via their employer to enable completion of the qualification.
Outcome of Course and Progression:
Successful learners will be awarded an Intermediate Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship in Plumbing Studies.
Cost:
Fully funded for 16 - 18 year olds. Employer contribution for 19+ employees.
