Entry is by interview.
Candidates will need to demonstrate a willingness to develop the attitudes and behaviours required by employers.
Course Content:
Learners will attend college full time initially with a gradual transfer into the workplace, with the intention of employed work by the end of the programme.
In college learners will have the opportunity to gain qualifications in :-
First Aid
Moving and Handling People
Food Hygiene
Key Skills in Communication
Key Skills in Application of Numbers
The Certificate in Health and Social Care Level 2
In the workplace learners will have the opportunity to gain an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care. This is a highly regarded qualification in the care industry.
Other Details:
All students will have a diagnostic assessment of basic skills as part of the interview process, to ensure the course is appropriate for them, and to identify and plan for any learning support needs.
Students who meet the criteria can claim EMA (Educational Maintenance Allowance). This funding exists to support them in accessing their course fully and attendance is monitored. The EMA will cease once the student has a contract of employment.
