Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Allied Health Profession Support (QCF).

Functional Skills in Mathematics and English at Level 2.

Employee Rights and Responsibilities.

Duration: 24 months.

Venue: Crawley Campus, College Road, Crawley West Sussex, RH10 1NR

Start Date: Flexible start dates throughout the year.

Suitable For: Various support roles work alongside Allied Health Professionals (e.g. physiotherapists, radiographers, podiatrists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists) to provide patient care in a range of settings including clinics, peoples homes or hospitals.

Entry By: Interview

Entry Requirements:

Must be employed in a Health Care setting.

Course Content:

The Level 3 Diploma in Allied Health Profession Support (QCF) has the following mandatory units:

- The role of the health and social care worker
- The principles of infection prevention and control
- Causes and spread of infection
- Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- Cleaning, decontamination and waste management
- Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Promote communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- Promote and implement health and safety in health and social care
- Promote person centred approaches in health and social care
- Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings
- Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings

The candidate will then chose from a range of optional units to suit the specific job role.

Candidates will be expected to attend college workshops for the knowledge element and Functional Skills component of the framework.

Outcome of Course and Progression:

On successful completion of the course you will receive an overall Advanced Apprenticeship certificate as well as your competence and Functional Skills certificate.

To become a qualified Practitioner (e.g. Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietician, Speech and Language Therapist, etc.) apprentices would have to progress from their apprenticeship to undertake a specific qualification, often a 3-year university Degree, which, on completion, would enable them to register as a professional. To do this, individuals would have to meet the specific entry qualifications as outlined by their chosen Higher Education Provider.

Cost:

This course is fully funded for those aged 16-18, however there may be an employer contribution for those aged 19+ (free funding available subject to availability).
