Sharon Moody (right) presents Joy Gough with a gift certificate for the benefit of future students
A local businesswoman was so delighted with the training she received at Central Sussex College that she has donated a gift certificate to enable future students to take advantage of brand new text books.
Sharon Moody, who owns and runs local day nursery and pre-school, Kids Capers, in Tilgate, Crawley, completed the Foundation Degree in Early Years course which is run in conjunction with the University of Chichester at Central Sussex College. She has since supported four of her employees in achieving the same qualification, which allows childcare professionals to study for further qualifications, up to and including Early Years Professional Status, in their local area.
On completing the course herself, Sharon was so delighted with the support and training she had received at the College that she decided to donate the gift certificate to be used to purchase books for future childcare students.
Sharon explains: 'When I started my Foundation Degree in 2008, I remembered Course Co-ordinator Joy Gough's desire to start a collection of text books within the Faculty that would enable students on the Foundation Degree to access appropriate literature for the course. I am pleased that as a former student and local early years provider, to be able to make what I hope to be a valuable contribution to future foundation degree courses and the professional development of many more students.'
On being presented with the gift certificate, Joy Gough, said: 'As Central Sussex College moves towards opening a university centre, this is a very welcome gift, which will extend our resources for future students.'
Sharon now plans to complete her BA and Early Years Professional Pathway, in line with the government's desire for a graduate-led early years profession.
