Central Sussex College is celebrating the success of three engineers who have undertaken their apprenticeships within the College's Faculty of Technology.

As one of the largest providers of apprenticeship training in the South East, the College is also one of the area's biggest employers and understands the benefits that having an apprentice can bring to the workplace.

While helping to run the motor vehicle workshops at the Crawley and Burgess Hill campuses, Chris Simons, 19, from Crawley, completed an Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and in doing so, became a valued member of the team - so much so that the College is keeping him on to complete his Advanced Apprenticeship.

Since being at the College, Chris has also completed further qualifications including First Aid at Work and a certificate in hybrid technologies in which he scored 100%.

Robert Else, Work Based Learning and Commercial Team Leader, said; "The additional duties and qualifications Chris has undertaken show that he goes above and beyond what is expected. Chris has really come along in his time as an apprentice, and has become an integral part of the Faculty."

Louis Lewin, also 19, has completed his Apprenticeship in Manufacturing Engineering, alongside Jonathan Taylor, who has just left the College after securing a position at Village Engineering in Charlwood, Surrey.

Louis said of his training; "Working in the College means that the staff can share their different areas of expertise. I am using the Job Shop service to help secure an Advanced Apprenticeship position within a local company."

Robert said: "Jonathan and Louis have been valuable assets in both the Machine shop and the Fabrication and Welding workshops. All three apprentices have gained valuable new skills, providing them with an excellent start to their future careers. They are all hoping to progress to their Advanced Apprenticeship and we wish them all luck with their future careers."
