Solar PV is one of the skills being taught at the renewables hub
Central Sussex College is proud to have been named as a hub college by the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies in recognition of its high quality provision and expertise in renewables training and assessments.
In offering a range of Skills Academy accredited renewable and low carbon courses, which includes the installation and maintenance of solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, heat pumps and rainwater harvesting and recycling, the College is helping the sector meet the growing demand for sustainable and renewable energy with state-of-the-art training facilities at its Burgess Hill campus. All training is mapped against National Occupational Standards (NOS).
This latest coup is a testament to the College's dedication to responding to the construction industry. In 2010 the College was recognised for excellence in Construction, Engineering and Building Services - achieving a Part B Training Quality Standard (TQS) in all three areas.
Dean Wynter, Director of Construction at Central Sussex College, said: "The government's agenda to reduce carbon emissions means that sustainable energies are a huge growth area and the College is committed to ensuring that local building services workers are competent in installing and maintaining sustainable energy devices and are meeting the legislative demands of the industry. We are delighted to have been named as a hub college and aim to continue to expand our renewables provision, while ensuring excellent standards of training."
Central Sussex College is leading the initiative in partnership with Northbrook College, Mid Kent College and Sussex Coast College.
