Equality and Diversity Policy
Sets out the College’s general commitment to equality and diversity – the elimination of unfair discrimination based on the 6 equalities strands – race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation and religion and belief – together with the positive promotion of equality, especially with reference to race, gender and disability. The Policy also highlights the valuing and acceptance of diversity within the College.

Sets out a list of general commitments regarding college-wide E&D issues.
Race Equality Policy
This strengthens the college’s commitment to race equality and good race relations.
Equality Duty Schemes (race, gender, disability)
These Equality Duty Schemes set out how the college will translate its general commitment to equality and diversity into practice. Each document contains–
- The legal background
- A guide to the document – the scheme and its implementation plan
- The objectives of the College for that equality strand
- A summary of Equality Impact Assessment
- Arrangements for consultation
- Arrangements for reporting progress
- Responsibilities of the Corporation, Principal, CLT, all staff, lecturers and the Equality and Diversity Committee.
Equality Scheme Implementation Plans (race, gender, disability)
These documents set out the detail of how the Equality Duty Schemes’ objectives will be met. Each document contains a table showing –
- The objective to which an action relates
- The action to be taken
- The manager responsible (usually Director or ED)
- The target timescale
- Reporting/monitoring arrangements
- The outcomes the actions will achieve
- The progress made against that action so far.
In addition, there is a Disability Statement for Students, which contains practical information e.g. about learning support, examination arrangements, emergency evacuation procedures etc.
