Corporation Members - Michael Coughlin

Michael has been a member of the Central Sussex College Corporation for two and a half years. Since July 2002 he has been the Chief Executive of Crawley Borough Council and was formerly Director of Planning and Environment and Director of Leisure and Cultural Services at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Working in a London Borough, Unitary, District and Borough Councils, Michael has also lead and managed leisure services, libraries, youth, community development, planning, environmental services, highways and engineering staff and services in local authorities at Windsor and Maidenhead, Elmbridge and Bexley. In addition he has extensive experience in corporate projects including policy and strategy development and delivery, performance management and improvement and cultural change.

Michael is an Audit Commission Peer Moderator, a member of SOLACE and an IDeA Peer Reviewer. He is also a member of a number of committees including the Department for Communities and Local Government Chief Executive's Advisory Group, Surrey and Sussex Public Health Network Board, West Sussex Strategic Partnership Board, SEERA Chief Executive's Advisory Group, Diamonds for Growth Steering Group and the Gatwick Diamond Steering Group.

In his spare time Michael enjoys playing and performing guitar and bass guitar, league squash and spending time with his family. Michael lives in Dorking and has three teenage children.
