Higher Education
What is HE?
The term higher education covers a diverse range of qualifications at Level 4 and above including foundation degrees, first degrees and higher national diplomas. These can be studied at universities, colleges or specialist institutions.
Many higher education courses are linked to a specific area of expertise such as engineering, computing or teaching. In some cases – such as medicine - they are a necessity; in others they provide greater academic and practical expertise, improving your career opportunities and earning potential.
Higher education courses also provide the opportunity for you to develop as an individual – giving you the chance to challenge others’ views, fulfil your interest in a particular area and develop transferable skills such as numeracy, communication and information technology, which can give you an edge in the fast-changing world of employment.
