Record breaking Open Evenings!
24/11/2009
Twins Jake (L) and Toby Jakeman (R), 15, attended the Haywards Heath Open Evening
The College opened its doors to potential students at both the Crawley and Haywards Heath campuses at a series of Open Evenings, attracting over 2,700 attendees over three events, held in Crawley on the 4th, and in Haywards Heath on the 10th and 11th November.
The Crawley event attracted nearly 900 visitors, who were able to tour the facilities and talk to tutors about the range of courses on offer at the College. In Haywards Heath, the Open Evenings took place over two nights, and over 1,800 people passed through the doors, 33% more than last year.
The Haywards Heath event was doubly useful for twins Toby and Jake Jakeman, 15, (pictured) from East Grinstead, who were both unsure what to expect from the new facilities the College had to offer.
Toby, who is currently at school in East Grinstead, hopes to pursue A levels in Law, Politics and Philosophy next September. After touring the facilities and speaking to prospective tutors, he was impressed with the College, and confident that he wanted to apply, adding that the Open Evening had been 'enlightening and interesting'.
Brother Jake, is already a student at Central Sussex College, currently studying Mechanics as part of the 14-16 programme at the Crawley campus. He was interested in the A level IT courses run at Haywards Heath, and the Digital Applications Diploma struck a chord with him, although he is still unsure about what to do next.
Many thanks to all staff members who took part in the events. The next College Open Evening will be held in May 2010.
