Meals on wheels to celebrate Apprentcieship Week!
11 first year apprentices joined chef tutor Mark Russell to deliver freshly baked pasties, pastries and pancake rolls to a group of hungry local reporters. The students, who are all undertaking a Level 2 NVQ in Professional Cookery as part of their apprenticeship programme, were more than willing to cater for staff at the Crawley News and they delivered the mouth watering treats at lunchtime on Wednesday 3rd February to raise awareness of National Apprenticeship Week.
Chef Mark Russell explained that the students are all employed in the catering industry and attend college once a week to learn the practical and theoretical skills behind their trade. He described them as an enthusiastic and friendly group who were willing to be creative with their ingredients.
The door-to-door delivery included guinea fowl and stir fried vegetable spring rolls, Cornish pasties, cheese and onion pasties and a selection of sweet pastries. The Crawley News team confirmed that they tasted great!
