Students strike a pose with their certificates!
A group of students from the Crawley campus, have received their Diplomas at last, after the scheduled awards ceremony was snowed off during January's arctic blasts. The students, who attained their Access to Health and Social Care Diplomas earlier in the year, finally got the chance to celebrate their achievements as they teamed up with students being awarded NVQ certificates in Health and Social Care subjects, at a ceremony held on Wednesday 24 February 2010.
A total of 274 students, all of them from the Faculty of Health and Community Learning, were invited to attend the ceremony, along with a guest, where they were welcomed by Clare Wallace, Director of the Faculty at the College. Principal Russell Strutt presented certificates to the successful students who achieved Diplomas in Access to Health and Social Care, to a number of students who gained NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 4 in subjects such as Children's Care Learning and Development, Dental Nursing, Physio, Occupational and Speech Therapy and Health and Social Care.
Other speakers at the event included Maureen Kilminster, Executive Director of Skills; Erika Thorne A1 Assessor Candidate and employer; Mandy Dale, a student of Children Care Learning and Development; and Chris Sexton, one of the Assessors at the College. Clare Wallace closed proceedings, with a final address, and the successful students were then invited to celebrate with some well-deserved refreshments, proving that good things really do come to those who wait!
