With unemployment figures high, and redundancy still on the increase, more and more adults are looking to boost their CV and improve their employability with a new qualification or a change of career. So when the College's Crawley campus opened its doors to prospective students at the Open Evening on Wednesday 19th May, it's no surprise that the highest number of visitors in three years came along to get some professional advice.

The College offers courses in a range of subjects, and the open evening was the perfect opportunity to find out more about courses on offer, get advice about careers and funding, meet the tutors and view the first class facilities. 470 people visited this year's event, representing a 14% increase on visitor numbers for the 2009 event, and a staggering 94% increase on the total for 2008!

For the first time, this year visitors were able to pre-register in advance of the event, with those who did being entered into a prize draw to win an ipod nano. The lucky winner was 44-year-old Nitin Kara, from Crawley. He was interested in learning more about courses in Computing, Electrical Installation and PAT testing as well as Health and Safety at Work, and found the Open Evening enabled him to understand more about the options available to him "I was keen to learn more about PAT testing, as it will be useful in the running of my business and also for the charity work that I do. The Open Evening was very interesting and I have since been speaking to College staff about the next step." He was also thrilled to have won the ipod, saying "I am so surprised to win as I never win anything! I am going to give the ipod to my son who recently lost his."

If you missed out on this event, the next Open Evening at the Crawley campus will be held in November. Alternatively, call into the reception areas of any of the College's campuses and pick up a copy of the full time or part time prospectus, or visit the website.
