Students from A level and BTEC dance courses joined forces for HotHouse 2010.

A group of A level dance students, who study at the Haywards Heath campus, recently put on a spectacular evening of contemporary dance at The Hub!

The show, known as 'HotHouse 2010', and which played to packed audiences over two nights, saw students drawing inspiration from a variety of dance-styles and working as part of groups, as well as on their own. Highlights of the A level performance included solos inspired by choreographers Richard Alston and Matthew Bourne, as well as group and solo pieces that allowed students to explore their creativity through a variety of musical styles.

This year's show saw the premiere of work created on the College's new course - the BTEC Dance Award, which has recently been introduced to the curriculum. The course is specifically designed for students with some dance experience, wishing to expand their knowledge, and is now offered alongside the dance A Level at the state-of-the-art performance facilities at the Haywards Heath campus. For their part of the performance, students from the BTEC course portrayed cygnets in scenes from Swan Lake, and developed their ideas through workshops and improvisation
