Central Sussex College apprentice Phoebe Stockdale has scooped the title of Proskills Apprentice of the Year.
Phoebe, 21, beat hundreds of other apprentices across the UK to the prize. An awards ceremony took place on Thursday 3rd November at Alton Towers, when she received her prize from comedian Seann Walsh, Mick Clayton of GQA Qualifications and Proskills' Terry Watts.
Proskills is the sector skills council for the processing and manufacturing sector. The Proskills awards acknowledge and celebrate apprentices' exceptional contributions to their organisation in the process and manufacturing sector, and the winners are chosen for making a real difference to the workplace by exceeding expectations and delivering measurable benefits.
Phoebe, from Horsham in West Sussex, completed her Advanced Apprenticeship in Customer Service with the support of Central Sussex College and her employer, Kall Kwik. She was nominated for the award by the Director of Kall Kwik Brighton and Crawley, Barry Cool, who said: "Phoebe demonstrates not only a high level of ability but also an inspiring desire to learn and succeed."
Since joining the business in 2008, Phoebe has risen through the ranks to assistant manager, while her apprenticeship training has given her industry-relevant skills and increased confidence in handling day to day production and clients.
Phoebe, from Horsham, said: "I am so happy to have won. It has only just started to sink in! This is a huge achievement for me and it is nice to have my hard work recognised, both with my completed Customer Service NVQs and winning Proskills Apprentice of the Year."
Phoebe secured her apprenticeship through Central Sussex College's Job Shop which matches potential apprentices with relevant vacancies in the region.
