The classic wartime slogan 'Keep Calm and Carry On' was used by students at the College this month, to help publicise their health promotion on anger management.

The campaign, which was aimed at both students and staff at the College, took place at the Crawley campus, on 11 November, and had been arranged by Access to Health and Social Care Professions students. They set up two information stands at key locations to provide details on anger management, and how the College can provide help and support on managing anger issues, as part of the Health Promotion module of their course.

In addition to handing out information, the students also encouraged visitors to the stall to take part in a questionnaire, and discuss physical activities which can help combat anger such as boxing, and going to the gym. They handed out complimentary day trial passes for Virgin Active in Crawley, and even gave participants the chance to have a go at virtual boxing on a Nintendo Wii which was set up close by.

One student explained: "We decided to focus on Anger for our health promotion as it really does affect people of all ages and from all walks of life. As well as promoting the services offered here at the College, we decided to look at how sports and physical activity can help too, and have been speaking to students about how going to the gym, taking part in a sport or even using a computer console to play a physical game can all help reduce anger levels."

The students' campaign was held a week after National Stress Awareness Day, which is organised by the International Stress Management Association, and took place on Wednesday 2 November.
