Central Sussex College hosted one of its largest annual awards ceremonies for students from the Faculty of Heath and Community Learning on 23 November. Held at the College's Crawley campus, the evening was a chance for students to celebrate their achievements alongside their friends and family.

Students studying on a wide range of courses in Early Years and Health and Social Care, ranging from level one to Foundation Degree, collected awards. The evening was also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the first group of students to graduate from the Foundation Degree in Early Childhood, which is run at Crawley campus in conjunction with the University of Chichester.

Clare Wallace, Director of the Faculty gave an opening address, which was followed by speeches from students Peter Townson, from the Access Diploma in Health and Social Care Professions, and Sharon Moody, a graduate of the Foundation Degree programme. Each student was then called up individually to collect their certificate, before College Principal, Dr Russell Strutt closed proceedings by congratulating all the successful students.

Faculty Director, Clare Wallace said: "It was inspiring to hear from both Peter and Sharon. Peter talked about how education was enabling him to change his life and gain a career he has always wanted, as a paramedic. Peter was one of only fifteen candidates to gain a degree place out of a pool of six hundred applicants at his chosen university, so we are extremely proud of his achievement. Sharon described how she had set up and managed two successful businesses and how education continues to be an integral part of their success." Clare continued: I hope that these two examples will encourage and inspire other students to reach for their goals, no matter what obstacles they may have to overcome."
