Students on the steps of Number 10
Thirty politics students from the College's Sixth Form Haywards Heath Campus visited Westminster as part of their A Level studies on government and politics on Friday 25th November.
In a tripartite exercise, the group, accompanied by Neil Ryan, Course Co-ordinator for History and Politics at the campus, managed to visit the Houses of Parliament, where they were able to observe live debates in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords; a trip inside Downing Street, where they posed for some iconic photos and a visit to the new Supreme Court.
Neil said: "Members of the House of Commons' Education Service were particularly impressed with the students during the workshop in Portcullis House; certainly, some students displayed a real flair for leading their quiz teams! Other highlights of the day included emerging from Downing Street into the midst of a protest against Foreign Office aid to the Democratic Republic of Congo - what better way for students to learn about pressure groups?"
