Media students from the Crawley campus are staging a free concert at the Blind Tiger Club, Brighton, on Friday 22 June, at 12.30pm. The lunchtime gig, which will showcase the new album from Portsmouth-based punk outfit avondale45, entitled 'In a Garage', promises to kick-start the weekend for local music-lovers!
Recorded in just 36 hours, 'In a Garage' is described as: 'Raw, Dirty and stripped back. This no-holds-barred album recreates the energy of an avondale45 gig.' The gig itself promises to be loud!
Having worked with Avondale45 before, this gig is not only a platform for the band to promote their album, but the opportunity for Media students based at Central Sussex College's Crawley campus to gain real experience of staging and filming a rock show, and working with the band's management to fulfil professional expectations.
Course Leader, Chris Beer said: "This is one of many events that the Media students are putting together with local businesses and media professionals as part of the BTEC course."
Lecturer, Don Allen added: "The BTEC qualification offers the flexibility to accommodate the needs of the business world and give students a taste of reality in their coursework. So we are always looking to partner with organisations on live projects'. The media department currently offers BTEC Creative Media Production courses from Entry level through to Level 3."
Music-lovers are welcome to come along to the free gig, which will kick-off at 12.30pm on Friday 22 June at the Blind Tiger Club, 52-54 Grand Parade, Brighton.
