Bright Sparks Selected for Media Panel

Two students from the Sixth Form Haywards Heath campus, Robyn Kemp, 16 from Horsham, and Sophie Thackray, 18, from Haywards Heath, beat off stiff competition from students across London and the south east to win through to a selection day for the Sparks media panel.

    On Wednesday 30 November an intrepid team of four A Level Economics students from the Haywards Heath campus took part in the Southern heat of the twelfth annual Target Two Point Zero competition, which is the national monetary policy competition for schools and colleges, run by the Bank of England and The Times Interest Rate Challenge.

    A Level students from the Sixth Form Haywards Heath campus visited Geneva at the end of November, for a chance to see the world-famous Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. This was the second trip to CERN for the College, with last year’s stay unexpectedly extended by three days, when heavy snowfall across Europe meant that the group struggled to get home after airports were shut.

    On Monday 5 December, members of Central Sussex College Students’ Union, based at the Haywards Heath campus, launched a petition to lower bus fares for students aged 13-18 in the local area. The petition is part of a wider scheme called ‘On the Bus’, which is run by the National Union of Students (NUS).

The seminar, which was held at Fitzwilliam College, was organised by the University of Cambridge International Examinations for a number of schools and colleges across the country who are offering the Pre-U Global Perspectives and Independent Research course.

Whilst there is nothing unusual about that, the vehicle he uses to commute the 45 mile round-trip often has other motorists doing a double-take on the A24!
