The students undertaking their mental health campaign
Central Sussex College students embarked on a two-day health campaign to end mental health discrimination and promote the benefits of drinking water on 10th and 11th June.
The first of the two events to be held at the College's Crawley campus was 'Time to Change - let's end mental health discrimination'. Arranged by the Access to Health and Social Care Professions students, this campaign aimed to change the stigma that surrounds mental health problems by challenging staff and students to think positively about the subject. The group set up an information stand, conducted a survey to test people's opinions on mental health problems, highlighted famous celebrities that suffer from conditions including bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression, and provided details on how the College can provide help and support with managing mental health problems.
The second campaign, designed to promote the health benefits of drinking water, was organised by another group of Access to Health and Social Care Professions students. As part of their 'Water for Health - Drink to Think' campaign, the students set up an information stand, petitioned for more water points to be located around the College and challenged staff and students to a tap versus bottled water taste challenge.
