Fun Run attracts the crowds

Dave Oldfield and Lucy Williams
Staff, students and members of the general public donned their trainers to run in memory of former Central Sussex College student, Shaun Wrelton, on 16th July.
More than 90 runners ran, walked or jogged around the 5km course at Whiteman's Green playing fields in Cuckfield, near Haywards Heath. The first male to cross the finish line was Dave Oldfield in 21 minutes 15 seconds, while the first female was Lucy Williams in 23 minutes 11 seconds. Alan Williamson, Subject Leader for Maths at the College's Sixth Form campus, was the first member of staff to finish in 25 minutes 06 seconds and Graham James was the first student to cross the line in 25 minutes 02 seconds.
This year's race, organised by Central Sussex College in memory of Shaun, who sadly passed away from Kidney disease in 2003, raised over £800 in entry fees and sponsorship money for Kidney Research UK.
Race organiser, Claire Newman, Lecturer at the College, said, "Once again this year's Fun Run was a successful event, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thank you to Haywards Heath Harriers for their help in organising the run, to Shaun's family and friends for their support and generous donations and to everyone else who gave up their valuable time and money."
