Further Education
EU (including UK) Students Under 19
Home-based learners aged under 19 on an agreed programme of further education, who are eligible for LSC fee remission will not be charged for their tuition, awarding body registration, or examination fees but will be expected to pay for other specific third party costs such as books, equipment, educational visits/trips and for the re-sit costs of any examinations.
EU (including UK) Students Over 19
Students aged 19 or over on 31 August on full-time courses have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration and examination fees, other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits and the College administration fee (currently £60).
Students aged over 19, who do not already hold a full Level 2 qualification and who are studying their first full Level 2 qualification may be entitled to free tuition, awarding body registration and examination fees. However they will be expected to pay for any additional qualifications taken alongside their Level 2 course and other third party costs. A new Level 3 offer has also been launched from August 2007, giving young adults aged 19-24 the same offer at Level 3.
Tuition Fees Remission
Tuition fees remission is available to all Further Education students on full-time courses and some on part-time courses, who are in receipt of a means tested benefit such as Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance. There are some part-time courses which do not attract remission from tuition fees, including all Higher Education courses.
If you are in hardship and need assistance with paying your fees or other course costs, you may be able to get help through the College's Learner Support Fund Scheme.
Higher Education
UK Students
UK students applying for full-time HND, Foundation Degree or Degree courses must apply for a fees award from their Local Education Authority. However, because of changes in government policy, students will be liable for top-up fees from 2006, and will be expected to repay these fees once in employment and earning over the threshold salary. For further details contact Learner Support Services.
Other
EU (EEA) students must pay tuition charges for Higher Education courses, which they may be entitled to reclaim from their country of domicile. To find out if you are eligible for a fee concession or for more information about course fees, please contact Admissions on 0845 1550043 or 01293 453474.
Special guidelines apply to overseas students, to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and to students on Adult Basic Education or English for Speakers of Other Languages courses; please contact Admissions if you think that these guidelines may apply to you. Different guidelines also apply to fees for Adult and Community Learning courses (ACL); please ask the ACL Co-ordinators for further details on 01342 321874.
